Distillation Labware

Distillation is a process used widely in the laboratory or in wider working environments for separating or purifying liquids or liquid mixtures based on the different boiling points of individual components.
Distillation Applications:
• Separation and purification of miscible liquid mixtures in organic chemistry
• Drying of solid residues and/or solvent removal
• Fractional distillation of liquids from polymers and petroleum products
• Removal of particulates or other solid contaminants
• As part of a water purification system for production of distilled water for laboratory use
• Specialist steam distillation-based applications such as Kjeldahl analysis of nitrogen and proteins in food, beverage, or environmental samples
What Types of Distillation Equipment Are Available?
Conventional distillation apparatus, typically comprising individual, jointed borosilicate glassware components assembled by the user (depending upon the application), using appropriate clamps, stands, and supports. Most conventional distillation assemblies combine a round-bottomed distilling flask to contain and heat the liquid(s) that require purification, fitted with a stoppered or jointed neck to which is attached a downward-sloping, inclined side-arm for connection to a condensing unit to cool the heated vapors back down to their liquid state. Heating mantles are the preferred heat source for improved temperature control. These conventional distillation units are also available supplied complete and ready-assembled for added convenience and ease of use.
Specialized automated distillation equipment, notably units designed for the determination of volatile acidity and alcoholic strength by volume in wines, musts, and alcoholic beverages, and units designed for Kjeldahl nitrogen or protein determinations.

2mm 120¿ PTFE Plug Only, 15.2/30. Modified Dean-Stark receiver designed for solvents that are either lighter or heavier than water. The lower three-way PTFE stopcock allows for the withdraw or return of the distillate during the distillation process. With a 10/30 outer joint on the top of the vapor tube for a 3¿ immersion thermometer. Graduations are the same as CG-1261.

Condenser is supplied complete with plastic caps and serrated hose connections.

The top outer joint on the 14/20 size can be converted to a 10/18 thermometer joint by using a CG-1016-27 bushing adapter. The sidearm is sealed at a height for use with a 1” immersion thermometer. The inner drip tip joint on the condenser and inner joint on the uptake tube are the same size.

Similar to CG-1239 but vacuum jacketed to improve efficiency. Available with Vigreux indentations in uptake tube to further increase the performance of the head. NOTE: The 14/20 size accepts a 1” immersion 7/12 or 10/18 thermometer, while the 24/40 and 29/42 sizes accept a 2” immersion, 10/30 thermometer.
Ace Glass, Inc. 30cm Congealing temperature wire stirrer with #3 stopper
30cm congealing temperature wire stirrer with #3 stopper, part of the ACE congealing temperature distillation apparatus, which is similar to that described in U.S. Pharmacopeia, 1995, page 1780. The ACE apparatus is supplied with Ace-Threds in place of rubber stoppers, where practical.
